We joined our brother assemblies, the Fr. Thomas F. Price Assembly 3952 of Hampstead and the Rev. Robert T. Lawson Assembly 2826 of Southport, in marching in the annual Saint Patrick's Parade through downtown Wilmington. A beautiful day it was.
Our brother Sir Knight Jim Stock passed away on May 17 at the age of 92. After leaving Wilmington, he spent the last four years living with his daughter in Hickory.
Please take a moment to read Jim's obituary.
Sir Knights John Danchisko, John Bolger and Greg Peters, met with Ashley Center's Eric Richardson to provide the contents of the Shoebox Collection.
Our assembly Christmas Party was at South Beach Grill on Wrightsville Beach on December 17. Here's the menu. It was a wonderful time at "the most wonderful time of the year."
This is our second year returning to march in the Burgaw Christmas Parade. Our sir knights of Assembly 2017 were joined by the sir knights of Assembly 3952 along with Past District Master Horvat. Let's have more men in 2025.

The assembly's first ever Veterans Day Mass and Rosary was held at St. Mark Catholic Church on Veterans Day, of course. The celebrant was Fr. Cesar with altr server SK Breit. Immediately following Mass, members of the assembly and representatives of affiliated councils led the Rosary with a special invocation.
Lord God, Almighty Father, creator of mankind and author of peace, as we are ever mindful of the cost paid for the liberty we possess, we ask you to bless the members of our armed forces. Give them courage, hope and strength. May they ever experience your firm support, gentle love and compassionate healing. Be their power and protector, leading them from darkness to light. To you be all glory, honor and praise, now and forever. Amen.
Here are a few of the participants at today's Mass and Rosary.
At 11am the NHCVC conducted the annual ceremony at Long Leaf Park (the former Hugh MacRae Park) at the American Legion and the Gold Star monuments. The guest speaker was Ken Morris, Captain USCG Retired. Some should remember him from his multiple assignments on the USCG Northwind. He gave a short but moving talk abbreviated by the sporadic rain.
The Veterans Day parade came two days early this year -- on a somewhat cooler, clear Saturday.
We're here with our new banner. And SK Siegel brought his truck and Knights-adorned trailer and TootsieRolls for treats. I think our Faithful Navigator filled his pockets.
We were further treated to a "fly by" of six planes.
Sunday, September 29, was a good day for playing bocce. We were led by our Faithful Captain, SK Larry Greer, and successful in bringing home the iron. The first game finished with an Assembly 2017 victory of seven to zero. SK Mike ‘I Got This’ Alexander, SK Bob ‘The Sword’ Gorman, SK Mike ‘The Pen is Mightier’ Apicella, and FN Frank A Bio played in the first game. The precision skills of SK Jimmy ‘The Arm’ Bilisoly, and George ‘The Family’ Plarre were needed in the second game. They led us to an eleven to five victory and the winners of the Inaugural Eastern North Carolina Knights of Columbus Assembly Bocce Fall Tournament.
Thank you to FN Gene Ziemba, Assembly 3952, and all the participants for their great sportsmanship and cooperation in organizing and playing in the tournament.
The trophy will be on display at the next assembly meeting so you can see it in person.
Our brother Sir Knight Lee Wagner passed away on September 5 at the age of 80. Lee moved to Morehead City about a year ago, joining his wife, Kathy, who was taking care of her mother.
Please take a moment to read Lee's obituary. A memorial service is planned for September 17 in Morehead City.
