Opening Ceremony
- The Candle burns for Brother Christian Decker.
- Faithful Navigator Frank Bio opened the meeting at 7:04 pm in the Saint Mark Parish Hall, 1011 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, NC. There were 24 Sir Knights with ID cards and rosaries in attendance.

- Honor Guard events asked for participation by the District Master:
- November 8 - Centennial Mass Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh.
- November 16 - Catholic Committee for Scouting Mass St. Andrew the Apostle in Apex.
- November 23 – Monsignor Wall’s 90th birthday Mass in St. Michael the Archangel in Cary.
- Email should be sent out with further information.
- December 14 - Burgaw Christmas Parade, Hamstead should be participating.
- Old Regalia Capes – If you bring your obsolete cape to the meeting, we will send it to Angel’s Unaware. They will take the silk lining from our old capes to create linings and garments for children's funerals. To date we've collected 6 and sent six capes to Angel's Unaware. Patriotic Reports
General
- Veterans Mass on November 11, 8:30 am at St. Mark Catholic Church. Mass will be followed by recitation of the Rosary. Wear Assembly/Council Shirts. Sit in front right side of the church as a group.
Veterans Support
- There are two fundraisers to provide monies in support of our various veterans activities, one being assisting in veterans moving from the Ashley House: the Veterans Support Raffle which will culminate in November, and the monthly 50/50 held at the assembly meetings.
- The Veterans Support Raffle drawing will be held at our assembly meeting in November for three cash prizes: $500, $250 and $125. Tickets can be purchased at assembly or council meetings and online at the assembly website. They are $5 or three for $10.
- The monthly 50/50 tickets are $5 or three for $10, too. This month’s 50/50 collected $160 with $80 won by SK Apicella who SK donated his $80 winnings to the 1074 LAMB campaign.
- Veterans Day Parade, Saturday November 9. It starts at 11 am, but line up at 9 am in the Downtown Wilmington Assembly Area. The dress code will be Regalia, tuxedo, or assembly/council shirt with khaki pants. SK Spiegel will be pulling a trailer with KoC logo for the parade. More information to follow two weeks before the parade. All KoC members are welcome to participate.
Scholarship for Future Saints
- SK John Reynolds will be taking over from SK Caleb Strittmatter. Donations will start in January to fund this program. Program update next meeting.
- Christmas Party venue reserved for December 17 at South Beach Grill. Price $27. Menu to be determined.
- Future recommendations are encouraged.
Trustees Report
Unfinished/Old Business
- Bocce Challenge was held on September 29 at 2:30 pm at Empie Park. Our assembly defeated Assembly 3952 of Hampstead headed by SK Gene Ziemba. SK Larry Greer, Team Captain, took home the winning trophy for the Assembly.
- Budget was approved unanimously as presented.
- At the presentation in August by Thomas Marcinowski, founder and president of the Veterans Memorial Reef, a question was raised as to whether the site was a blessed burial reef. Issued resolved, Catholic Burials are approved. Recommend a Priest or Deacon bless the site at the time of burial.
- Cannon Law 1180 – must be a designated burial place as to that purpose.
- Cannon Law 1176 – Cremation is permitted as long as the reason is not contrary to Christian Doctrine.
- Banner for the 4th degree was purchased and is ready for service. Same as the old banner that was lost in Hurricane Florence.
New Business
- Assembly website now has the Wreaths Across America (https://kofc2017.org/wreaths-across-america) active if you want to purchase wreaths.
- Shoe boxes for Ashley House veterans for Christmas – place items of hygiene products, bring to November meeting. SK Bio will put a list of the items needed in an email.
- November 11 - Veterans Day Ceremony at Long Leaf Park at 11 am.

- Continue with COR program at Immaculate Conception Church, meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month starting at 6:30 pm.
- September 29 – Corporation Communion ICC with rosary.
- September 30 – Golf Tournament at Pine Valley Country Club held with great success.
- October 5 – Council Picnic, Longleaf Park.
- October 17 - 18 - Support Special Olympics at Legion Stadium.
- October 18 – ICC American Red Cross Blood Drive.
- October 19 – Basilica St. Mary Blood Connection Blood Drive.
- October 19 – 20 – Support Combat Veterans Motor Association Silver Coast Regional Weekend with a Pancake Breakfast.
- October - Coats for Kids kickoff.
