Veterans Support Raffle

Each of our affiliated councils were allotted raffle tickets to sell which go towards the programs our assembly provides to the veteran community. It was left to each council as to how to sell those tickets. Some will be sold at council/parish/community events, and some sold on-line. Many thanks to the councils for their support.

Veteran Support Raffle Process

Both REAL tickets and VIRTUAL tickets were sold for the raffle. There were 168 REAL tickets for which we have stubs and numbers; there were 228 VIRTUAL tickets which we will assign a number.
First, we put all the REAL ticket numbers in a spreadsheet table. The highest number on the stubs was 360. For each stub we put the selling council number in the REAL column. The name associated at this point doesn’t matter since we can go to the stubs to find the name in the case of a winner.
Next, we assign available numbers for the VIRTUAL tickets. For each VIRTUAL ticket we put the selling council number in the VIRTUAL column and the buyer in the Holder column. For example, if a Joe Knight bought three VIRTUAL tickets, three available numbers would be assigned to Joe.
Our table will be at least large enough to hold the highest REAL ticket number sold. In this case 360. If there are insufficient unassigned numbers to assign all the VIRTUAL tickets, then the table will be extended. Since we sold a total of 396 tickets, the table was expanded to 396 numbers.
We will use playing cards to do the actual drawing. There will be three sets of cards: the first set will have 10 (meaning 0), Ace (meaning 1), 2, and 3.; the second and third set will add 4 through 9. The first set will draw the hundreds position (0,1,2,3); the second set will draw the tens position; the third will draw the digits position. There is a slight possibility of drawing 397, 398 or 399 which are unassigned.
A person will be selected to shuffle each of the sets for each drawing. The first drawing will be for the $500 prize, followed by the ones for $250 and $125. A separate member should be selected for each drawing. The one who shuffled will then hold up the four, ten or ten cards in succession to have the person drawing take one card from each and announce the number. Thus, a winner will be chosen.
The winners will be contacted the next day and be announced on the website under News. The checks will be delivered as quickly as possible. If the winner is in attendance at the meeting, he will go home with a check for the winnings.
